Participatory communication for tuberculosis control in prisons in Bolivia, Ecuador, and Paraguay Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the most important and urgent challenges to global health care structures. The resurgence of the disease in the past few decades has renewed the attention of governments, international agencies, donors, and affected communities to ward TB and revitalized their efforts to prevent and control it. TB disproportionately affects populations already suffering from poverty and social exclusion, with an estimated 95% of TB cases and 98% of TB-related deaths occurring in the developing world (1, 2).
